Danijela + Michael

Singing, dancing, grappa drinking, flag waving, accordion playing and some more grappa. Croatian weddings have it all.

Having been married in Croatia myself, I’ve got an affinity with the place and its people. Their weddings, not unlike Irish weddings, combine two large and close-knit families with a spectacular party.

This lovely Melbourne-based couple had traditional aspects to their wedding while still letting their hair down. As such, there were customary songs to welcome the bride down the stairs while we also ended up in a movie theater with the bridal party wearing 3D glasses.

Their day was rounded off with an epic reception in the very grand Regal Ballroom Northcote. Those who have passed were remembered and those who were present danced – like only the Croatians can.

Here’s how we saw the day…

Flowergirls leotards – Anagrassia
